Project 1: Line Art

I liked this project alot because it gave a very good introductory to the basic image with text used in graphic design. For me personally I was able to learn a bit more about typography and how to use Adobe Illustrator better. I chose the two images because together they seem to pose a variety of thoughts and questions as to what it could mean. The headphones seemed to symbolize music or listening to something. The question mark was also a strong symbol that honestly lies within every work of art either to the artist or the viewer. Together they ask what is music and what makes it worth listening to? Do we lean towards the lyrics or the actual melody. Music is a very unique form of art and there is a freedom to making it. It evokes emotions that no painting or sculpture can compete with.

Project 2: Collage

For this project we compiled a list as a group. Whatever words were on that list we had to implement images into the collage to represent one of the words. My list included: “determination, moo, sing, song, sung, lala, scream, angry, sad, beautiful, and naked.”

Project 4: Official Language

This project was really focusing on using Adobe InDesign as far as assembling things together to make covers for a book. I liked this one because you could actually see design work being used to put on a product. I chose a more naturalistic approach to my design because of the content of the book.

Project 5: Unofficial Language

This project was my favorite of the semester because it was alot more hands on and had a more permanent effect. My image statement relates to how “we the people” always want our voice to be heard, but alot of times when given the opportunity, say nothing, yet complain once we don’t agree with what’s going on. I wanted to influence my generation to speak up when given the chance, and “Don’t Choke.”

Project 3: Montage and Text

This project was fun to play with. I stuck to a music theme on this one. I wanted the man to seem like he was letting the “music” of his head to spill out. Whatever you’re “music” is, make it your own because you are the music.
